Draft: parts of this notice are still being filled in.
Who we are
Atlas shows recent flight prices and links you to the companies that sell them. It is run by Myles Critchley, [address] ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at privacy@atlasflights.co.uk. [ICO registration number, if needed]
The short version
- You do not sign up, and we never ask for your name, email, phone, card or passport.
- We keep no cookies and do not track you across other websites.
- We count searches and clicks, under a random code for each visit, to see what people use.
- If you click through to a flight, you are then on the seller's own website, under their privacy notice. Atlas may earn a commission if you book.
What we collect, and why
| What | When | Why (and the legal basis) | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you searched for (airport, place, month, length of stay) and which prices you clicked, under a random code made for that one visit | When you search or click a price | To see which places and features people use, and to check commission reports (our legitimate interest in running and improving Atlas) | About 13 months, then deleted automatically |
| A random code for your phone or browser, with the routes you chose to watch and their last price | Only if you press "Watch this route" | So you, and only you, see your watched routes and whether they went up or down (to provide the service you asked for) | 120 days, or until you remove it. At most 10 per phone |
| Your internet address (IP) | Every visit | To stop abuse, such as someone sending thousands of requests (our legitimate interest in keeping Atlas working and safe) | Held in memory for a few minutes; Atlas does not write it down. [Our host's own logs: confirm with Render how long they keep them] |
The random codes are not linked to your name or contact details, and we have no way to find out who you are from them.
We do not make automated decisions about you. Prices are always shown cheapest first; the commission never changes the order.
Who we share it with
- Our hosting company, which runs Atlas for us under contract and only on our instructions: [Render Services, Inc., data held in Frankfurt, Germany (EU)]. [Lawyer: confirm Render's data processing terms and the safeguard for a US company handling EU-held data.]
- Travelpayouts / Aviasales: to fetch prices, Atlas asks them for fares on a route (for example, Manchester to Tenerife in March). Nothing about you is sent with that request.
- When you click a price: your browser goes to the seller's website. The link carries Atlas's partner number so the seller knows the booking came from Atlas. It carries nothing about you. From then on you are dealing with the seller directly, under their own privacy and cookie notice.
We never sell your personal data.
Information stored on your phone or browser
Atlas does not use cookies. It uses your browser's own storage only for things that help you: your last search, your shortlist of hearts, the "Easy read" setting, the cost from your door that you typed, and the random code for your watched routes. If you install Atlas as an app, it also keeps a copy of one page so it can say "you are offline" without an internet connection. None of this is sent to anyone for advertising. You can clear it any time in your browser or phone settings.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. The quickest way to delete it: in Atlas, open Saved and press Forget this phone. That deletes your watched routes and saved holidays from our computer and clears what Atlas kept on your phone, at once. Search and click counts are kept under a code for each visit, not your phone, so we cannot pick yours out; they are deleted after about 13 months. For anything else, write to privacy@atlasflights.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we use your data, please tell us first at privacy@atlasflights.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, or 0303 123 1113.
Keeping it safe
Atlas is reached only over an encrypted connection (https). It holds no passwords, contact details or payment details. Keys to price suppliers are kept in the host's protected settings, never in the code.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will put the new version here with its date.
